Why a stump specialist

Not a sideline. The whole business.

Mr. Stump doesn't take down trees, trim limbs or do landscaping. Every day is spent grinding stumps — which is why the work is faster, cleaner and done right the first time.

Self-propelled, lawn-friendly equipment
  1. The owner shows up

Mr. Stump meets you, looks at the job and grinds your stumps himself. No sales rep, no crew you've never met — just the person who answered the phone.

  2. A specialist, not a sideline

Plenty of tree services and landscapers grind stumps now and then as a high-priced add-on. Stumps are the whole business here, so the job is done safely, completely and correctly the first time.

  3. Same day, once the tree is down

Had a tree taken down this morning? Call and the stump can usually be handled the same day — no waiting weeks for a crew to circle back.

Any stump, any spot

Big stumps, lil’ stumps, tough spots.

The right machine for the job — powerful enough for old hardwoods, narrow enough for a fenced backyard.

  • 29″Gate access

    Tight backyards are no problem

Our thin, self-propelled grinder rolls through a 29-inch gate, so fenced yards and tucked-away corners aren't off limits.

  • BigHardwood stumps

    Oak, maple, poplar, beech

The powerful cutter takes on the large stumps — including uprooted, cut stumps that other crews leave behind.

  • 24″Grind depth

    Ready for replanting

Redoing a front bed? Shrub and ornamental tree stumps can be ground up to 24 inches deep so a new root ball drops right in.

  • AnySize or spot

    Any stump, any spot

Versatile, self-propelled equipment reaches awkward locations and removes any size stump without tearing up your lawn.

Why remove that stump?

The tree’s gone.
Destumpify.

  • Stumps invite pests

Rotting stumps breed ants, termites, bees and rodents — and from there it's a short trip to your house. Grinding it out helps you skip costly pest control.

  • Your yard gets its space back

The tree is gone; the stump serves no purpose. Grow grass, replant the bed, or finally mow in a straight line.

  • It adds curb appeal

A clean, level yard looks cared for. Leftover stumps do the opposite to your property's value.

  • It's a tripping hazard

Stumps and their surface roots catch feet — and a fall on your property can become your liability.

Hey tree services. Yo, landscapers.

Your customer
stays your customer.

We’re the only thing we say we are: a stump company. Send Mr. Stump onto your client’s property knowing we have no interest in any other work there.

  • We don't do tree removal, trimming or landscaping — so we never compete for your customer.
  • We're not owned or operated by one of your competitors.
  • Bring us in as your subcontractor, or have your customer call us directly.
  • Cheaper than owning, hauling and maintaining a grinder.
  • Already own one? Call us when you need a portable, when yours is down, or when you're slammed.

Thank-you notes, ten years apart.

One from a homeowners association president in Chesterbrook, one from a homeowner in Malvern. Same verdict: quick, clean, done right.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Chris for a tremendous job. His great work should save our landscaper perhaps up to a week of time.

Questions

Stumped?
Ask away.

Can you get into a fenced backyard?

Yes. Our thin grinder fits through a 29-inch gate, and the self-propelled equipment handles tight, awkward spots without damaging the lawn.

How deep do you grind?

Deep enough to finish the job properly. If you're replanting, we can grind shrub and ornamental tree stumps up to 24 inches deep so a new root ball fits.

How soon can you come out?

Once your tree is down, call for same-day service. Availability depends on the day's schedule, so the earlier you call, the better.

Do you remove trees too?

No — stumps are all we do. That focus is exactly why landscapers and tree services trust us on their customers' properties.

What does an estimate cost?

Nothing. Estimates are free, and there are quantity discounts when you have several stumps.

Are you insured?

Yes, Mr. Stump is fully insured.
